Our Vision: Educating for a Sustainable World
Copenhagen International School is committed to educating its students about climate change and sustainability, and to establish habits that promote clean living.
The greening of CIS involves many groups comprised of students, teachers and parents. The groups all fall under the umbrella Go On Green.
The commitment of CIS to Go On Green is reflected in the school's Mission Statement. It is the philosophical belief that CIS endeavors:
"to educate students to be respectful of, and knowledgeable about, their local and global environment".
The Strategic Plan of CIS also specifies the importance of Go on Green. In the Strategic Plan Implementation Framework, the school is empowered to:
"actively support school-wide enviornmentally sustainable practice".
Go On Green focuses on the philosophical beliefs reflected in the school's mission statement and Strategic Plan, and translates these into practical goals. In particular, the Go On Green mission is to:
- Reduce our negative environmental impact
- Become a more sustainable school
- Raise awareness among students, staff, and parents of sustainability issues
- Inspire students and staff to take action towards protecting the environment
Go on Green includes the student organizations Roots and Shoots, and the Greenies. It also refers to efforts underway to obtain EMAS accreditation and our efforts to live up to our Green Flag accreditation. Please read on to see how CIS is Educating for a Sustainable World.
