Giving
Since its founding in 1962/63, Copenhagen International School has benefited from charitable gifts made by current families as well as alumni (former CIS students, parents and staff members.
This generosity has helped the school to become one of the leading international IBO World Schools. The school works hard to retain this status and build even greater academic excellence into the programmes with an ever developing curriculum.
In order to achieve this and to recognize our mission "to develop the potential of each student in a stimulating environment of cultural diversity, academic excellence and mutual respect", we rely on the philanthropic support of our CIS community, as the school continues to educate globally responsible, active citizens.
Quite simply, philanthropy at CIS makes our school better and our community stronger.
As we are making plans for a new school to be built by August 2016, we would like to ask you to support any of the following focus areas:
The New School
Right now we are in the process of designing a new state of the art campus for the 21st century. The new school will be located right on the water in Nordhavn, just a few miles south of Hellerup and we hope to move there in 2015 or 2016. We have been fortunate enough to receive very generous donations from major foundations, not least the A. P. Møller Foundation. However, securing the necessary additional funding, as you can imagine, remains a big challenge. Your donation, large or small, will help us make the dream come true.
Inclusion & Special Educational Needs
Like most international schools across the globe, CIS receives an increasing number of applications from international families whose children have special educational needs. We already support a wide range of special educational needs and we endeavor to become even more inclusive in the future so as to fulfill the school’s mission to serve the transient expat community in Copenhagen. Your donation will help us provide the necessary staffing, facilities and professional development to make CIS a truly inclusive school!
The CIS Alumni Scholarship Program
Each year the school offers a limited number of bursaries and scholarships to families who could not otherwise afford to enroll their children at CIS. Your donation will help us establish a CIS Alumni Scholarship Fund which will enable a wider range of families to join the CIS community and to give their kids a fist class education at Copenhagen’s premier international school!
Copenhagen International School has LL§8A status as a Danish charitable institution. Under Danish law, 14,500 DKK per person is deductible. (DKK 500 is not deductible). This means that the maximum gift is 15,000 DKK per person (30,000 DKK per couple) to receive the full benefit of the tax deduction.
